Sprint Lightning support
Help with timing sprints, voice features, GPS, the Wear OS watch app and your Pro subscription.
Include your phone model (and your watch model, if it’s about the watch app), whether you’re on Android or iPhone, and the app version (shown in the app’s menu). We usually reply within a couple of days.
Common questions
How do I time a sprint?
Press Start Session, choose your distance in the Sprint Intervals card (100, 200 or 400 m, or 30–60 m under Other), then press Countdown. When the gun fires, run. A tone sounds at your finish line and your time is saved. Sprint Intervals are part of Pro.
Why is my speed or distance off, or why won’t tracking start?
GPS needs a clear view of the sky. Start outdoors, away from tall buildings and heavy tree cover, and give your phone 20–30 seconds to lock on before you start. Open the GNSS diagnostics in the app: more satellites and a smaller accuracy number mean better tracking. Make sure the app has precise location permission.
Tracking stops when my screen turns off.
Allow the app to show notifications. The tracking notification is what keeps a session running in the background. On Android, also set the app’s battery usage to Unrestricted (Settings → Apps → Sprint Lightning → Battery), since some phones stop background apps aggressively.
I can’t hear voice callouts.
Voice and Command are Pro features. With Pro, check that the Voice switch is on and that your media volume is up. Text-to-speech uses your phone’s speech engine, so make sure one is installed and set to English.
How do I get the Wear OS watch app?
It’s part of the same Google Play listing as the phone app. On your watch, open Google Play and search for Sprint Lightning, or install it to your watch from Google Play on your phone. It needs Wear OS 3 or later. If you have Pro, it unlocks on the watch too, as long as the watch uses the same Google account.
Do I need my phone with me when I use the watch?
No. The watch uses its own GPS and runs the whole session by itself, even with the screen off. Each session is sent to your phone afterwards and appears in History, with its heart-rate graph, the next time you open the app on your phone.
The watch says “GPS: waiting for fix.”
A watch’s first GPS lock can take one to three minutes and needs open sky. Step outside, away from buildings and trees, and wait until the status line turns green before you start running. Indoors, use Indoor mode instead.
Heart rate shows “--” on the watch.
Heart rate is part of Pro. With Pro, tap Allow heart rate if the button appears, and wear the watch snugly above your wrist bone. It takes a few seconds to read once a session starts. If another workout app is running on the watch, close it first: only one app can run a workout at a time.
Where do I hear callouts when I use the watch?
If the Sprint Lightning app is open on your phone nearby, the watch sends its callouts to the phone, so you hear them through your phone’s headphones over your music. Otherwise the watch speaks them itself, through headphones paired to the watch. The Voice switch on the watch shows which: Through phone or On watch.
What is Indoor mode on the watch?
For treadmills and indoor tracks, where GPS can’t work. Turn on Indoor at the bottom of the watch’s session screen before you start, and speed and distance come from your steps. It’s less precise than GPS outdoors, and it switches itself off after each session. Indoor mode is part of Pro.
Voice Commands aren’t responding, or my music keeps pausing.
Command needs microphone permission. While Command is listening it needs exclusive use of the microphone, so music from other apps (and the app’s Demo Music) pauses while it’s on. Speak clearly and use the exact phrases: “Start Session,” “Stop Session,” “Countdown,” “Cancel,” “Voice On/Off,” “Constant On/Off,” “Speed,” “Cadence,” or “Distance” followed by a number.
What’s free, and what does Pro add?
See the Free & Pro comparison. Every session is saved on the free plan too, so your full history appears as soon as you upgrade.
I bought Pro but the app shows the free version.
Make sure you’re signed in to the same Google or Apple account you bought Pro with, then open the upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases. Pro can take a few seconds to show after the app starts while it checks with the store.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Sprint Lightning → Cancel. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Sprint Lightning → Cancel Subscription. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases go through the stores, so refunds are handled by them. On Android, request one from your Google Play order history. On iPhone, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my data?
Delete sessions from the History screen, or uninstall the app to remove everything. Your data is stored only on your phone. The watch keeps a session only until it reaches your phone. See the privacy policy.
