The short version: These terms cover the Android and Wear OS versions; on iPhone, Apple’s license agreement applies. The app is provided “as is,” you use it at your own risk, and we assume no liability for its use. Its speed, distance, cadence, timing and heart-rate figures are estimates, and it isn’t a medical device. Sprinting has real risks, so train within your limits and stay aware of your surroundings. Sprint Lightning is free to use, and you can pay for Pro through Google Play. This summary doesn’t replace the terms below.
These terms are an agreement between you and Mark Karas, publishing as Polymorphic Lightning (“we,” “us”), for the Sprint Lightning app on Android and Wear OS, from Google Play (“the app”). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. If you have questions, email support@PolymorphicLightning.com.
iPhone and Apple App Store
These terms don’t apply to the iPhone version. If you got Sprint Lightning from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies instead, and Apple handles your purchases under its own terms.
Your license
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial training, as allowed by Google Play’s rules. The app and its content, including its name, design, code, sounds and demo music, belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, resell, redistribute or reverse engineer the app, except where the law gives you that right.
Health and safety
- You use the app and exercise entirely at your own risk. Sprinting and running can cause injury or worse. Talk to a doctor before you start or increase training, especially if you are older, have a health condition or haven’t trained recently. Stop if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath, and get medical help if you need it.
- Stay aware of your surroundings. Train only where it’s safe and allowed, and watch for traffic, people and obstacles. Don’t look at or operate your phone or watch while sprinting. If you use headphones, keep the volume low enough to hear what’s around you.
- Not medical advice or a medical device. The app, including its heart-rate readings, isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, prevent or monitor any medical condition. Don’t rely on it in an emergency or to make health decisions.
Accuracy of measurements
Speed, maximum speed, distance, sprint times, cadence and heart rate are estimates. They depend on GPS signal, your surroundings, weather, your device and its sensors, and how you carry or wear it. Readings can be too high or too low, and results may differ between your phone, your watch and other apps. Sprint times and the finish tone are approximate, because they rely on GPS distance. The app isn’t suitable for official timing, records or competition, or for any purpose where an error could cause harm or loss.
Free features and Pro
The app is free to download, with optional paid features called Pro. See the Free & Pro comparison. We may change or add features in either plan over time. If you have an active subscription and a change takes away a main Pro feature, you can cancel as described below.
Pro subscription
- Billing. Pro is sold as a monthly or annual subscription through Google Play. Google Play charges you, in the price shown before you buy. We never see your payment details.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and Google Play charges you for the next one, unless you cancel before it renews.
- Canceling. Cancel in your Google Play subscription settings. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Uninstalling the app doesn’t cancel your subscription. Steps are on the support page.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policies. We can’t issue them ourselves.
- Price changes. If the price changes, Google Play will notify you as its rules require.
- Your watch. Pro bought on your Google account also unlocks the Wear OS app when the watch uses that same account.
Your data
Your sessions are saved on your own devices. Our privacy policy explains what the app uses and how it’s handled. Because we don’t hold a copy of your data, we can’t recover it for you if it’s lost, for example if you delete it, uninstall the app or lose a device. Please keep your own exports of anything important.
Other companies’ services
The app relies on services we don’t control, including GPS and other satellite systems, your device’s operating system, Google Play and Google Play services, Wear OS, and your device’s speech and text-to-speech services. Their availability and accuracy are outside our control, and their own terms apply to your use of them.
Acceptable use
Please use the app only lawfully, and don’t interfere with it, try to bypass Pro or its purchase checks, or misuse any part of it.
Updates and availability
We may update, change or stop offering the app or any feature, and it may not work on every device or be available in every country. Some updates may be needed to keep using the app.
Ending these terms
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Remember to cancel any subscription separately. If you seriously break these terms, your license ends. The sections on health and safety, accuracy, disclaimers and liability continue to apply after that.
Provided “as is”
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” and you use it at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will improve your performance.
No liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we assume no liability for the app or your use of it. This covers any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, any injury, illness, death or other loss arising from exercise or from relying on the app or its figures, and any lost data or lost purchases, even if we were told such a loss was possible.
Some places don’t allow these exclusions. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived, or excludes liability that can’t legally be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we do, we’ll change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the app after a change, the updated terms apply. If you don’t agree with them, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
